8:30 a.m.–Noon: Educators Academy Super Saturday Panel Presentations

Location: San Diego State University

Join us for the Super Saturday Panels, featuring panel discussions from both academics and professionals, discussing the latest research and trends in public relations. Topics include pedagogy, research and the public relations industry. Past panels have focused on ethics in the curriculum, best practices relating to social media integration, internships, use of mobile applications in the classroom and online portfolios.

Noon–1 p.m.: Lunch (Included with paid registration)

1–3:15 p.m.: Research Presentations

Location: San Diego State University

Peer-reviewed research papers will be presented and discussed.

3:15–4:30 p.m.: Break / Return to Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Hotel

4:30–5:30 p.m.: Educators Academy Pedagogical Poster Session

Location: Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Hotel

Best practices in teaching public relations will be presented in teacher-to-teacher and teacher-to-practitioner formats in a pedagogical poster session. What’s “hot” in public relations learning and ways to share ideas for the classroom will be discussed.

5:30–7 p.m.: Educators Academy Awards Ceremony & Reception

Location: Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Hotel

Hors d’oeuvres and a hosted bar will be available. As part of the reception, the Ferguson Award for support to public relations education will be presented. The winners of the Betsy Ann Plank Graduate Student Research Paper, Top Faculty Research Paper, Top Ethics paper and Top Paper on Diversity and Inclusion will also be recognized.

Dean E. Mundy, Ph.D., assistant professor, University of Oregon

Mundy, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of public relations in the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication. His research investigates the communication strategies used by local and state-level LGBTQ advocacy organizations and how the principles of diversity and inclusion inform best practices in public relations. His research goals broadly focus on how public relations theory and practice can be informed beyond the corporate application, as an instrument to give voice to the voiceless.
