This 20-year teaching vet is a successful former advertising and PR practitioner whose client base  included McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and Sprite. She is currently the executive vice president of branding for UJAMAA Construction, Inc., builders of the Obama Presidential Center in her hometown of Chicago. She also chairs the PRSA Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Shanita Akintonde, MBA, associate professor, Columbia College Chicago

Akintonde, MBA, M.Ed., DTM is a professor in The School of Media Arts at Columbia College Chicago and Interim Program Director, Culture Race & Media in the Cinema & Television Arts Department.  A 25 year member of PRSA, she is the first recipient of the PRSSA Multicultural Student Scholarship.
