Honoring the Best in Public Relations

June 1, 2017

One of the annual highlights for PRSA is fast approaching: The 2017 Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony takes place on June 8 at the AXA Equitable Center in New York City. NY1 morning news anchor and author Pat Kiernan is the evening’s host.

PRSA recently announced the finalists for the Silver Anvils, which represent the best in strategic and influential PR programs. The top campaign in each respective category will receive a Silver Anvil, and the finalists in each category will take home an Award of Excellence.
What follows are some details abut this year’s entries from the PRSA newsroom:

According to the panel of senior-level judges, a common trend among this year’s categories was the scope and expansion of entries that went well beyond traditional media relations. Social media has continued to become an increasingly important element of overall media campaigns.

At the core of the campaigns, judges saw more varied, imaginative avenues used to communicate stories and messages, with a more concerted effort to evoke emotion, create meaningful behavioral change, underscore relevance and contribute to an outcomes-driven evaluation.

Additionally, members continue to embrace an integrated approach by using paid, shared and owned media channels and by incorporating more digital assets to ensure a multichannel approach.

“The PRSA Silver Anvil acknowledges the contributions of PR professionals performing at the highest level to create some of the year’s most creative and extraordinary communications campaigns,” 2017 PRSA Chair Jane Dvorak, APR, Fellow PRSA, said in a statement announcing the finalists. “These campaigns highlight the successful research and strategic planning necessary to drive measurable business results for their organizations and clients.”

Meanwhile, I hope to see you on June 8.
