I am terrified of flying. Even for someone who flies more than 100,000 miles a year, the feeling is maddening and stressful. I think I’m terrified because, aside from being trapped in a metal tube, I can’t see what’s going on in the cockpit. I am not in control and can’t see who’s there or what they’re doing.

I look at communications with employees the same way. Not including them in the C-Suite’s decision-making processes can be unsettling and disquieting for those along for the ride.
