Pokémon Go, which is shaping up to be the summer’s biggest blockbuster, is perhaps the first real success story in the use of augmented reality technology.

And as Digiday reported on July 12, Pokémon Go is also a big hit for Nintendo on social and digital, “dominating internet conversation and generating substantial brand recognition.”

The popularity “shows conclusively that people want to mix real world and virtual experiences with their digital devices showing them the way,” wrote David Kaplan for GeoMarketing.
