When you’re new to an organization, it can easily show by the way you walk, talk and act. I learned this the hard way, keeping mostly quiet and observing others while at my first job.

However, when I had the opportunity to be the new person again with my current agency, I made a conscious decision that I was going to be an active learner and a proactive one. This philosophy has led to my advancement from intern to account assistant to account executive in two years, with a consistent focus on sharpening my skills and expanding my knowledge.

So, zip, buckle, strap and fasten in to something in the beginning because once you embrace being new, you’re likely to grow faster than you think possible. Here are a few tips to help PR pros just getting started or simply moving into a new role:
