In a recent Pew Research Center survey, 91 percent of U.S. adults had learned about the upcoming presidential election in the prior week from at least one of 11 types of news sources, including television, digital, radio and print media.

Cable news topped the list, as 24 percent named it the most helpful, which was at least 10 percentage points higher than any other source.

Local TV, social networking sites, news websites and apps, news radio and network-television news were also deemed informative. Candidates’ websites, apps, emails or the campaigns themselves were not as helpful, and neither were issues-based groups and late-night comedy shows. Print versions of local and national newspapers came in last.
