PR Blotter: September 2015

September 1, 2015

Google is overhauling its operations by creating a new publicly traded parent company called Alphabet Inc., a conglomerate that will comprise all of its disparate businesses.

According to USA Today on Aug. 11, Google co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, will run Alphabet. Google will become a subsidiary and have a new CEO, Sundar Pichai, who has been a top Google executive.

Google will be the largest company in the Alphabet collection, but slimmed down by excluding companies outside its core Internet business. It will still run its Android and Chrome operating systems, YouTube and search functionality, while spinning off more experimental ventures such as an Internet of Things gadget maker Nest and the high-speed Internet project Fiber.
