2007 Silver Anvil Award Winner – Public Service – Business

Hurricane Katrina caused unimaginable hardships in communicating with evacuees dispersed across the country. Supporting an FCC initiative, TracFone Wireless and rbb Public Relations launched the Hurricane Katrina Lifeline Program offering 300 minutes of free wireless service and a handset to Katrina victims. At the end of the campaign, 30,000+ phones were delivered and 100 million media impressions garnered to raise awareness for the FCC offer. TracFone’s Hurricane Katrina Lifeline program resulted in 60% market share of the FCC program and a decision by the FCC to extend the offer for three additional months.
