Chuck Norman, APR is owner/principal of S&A Cherokee, a full-service integrated communications agency providing public relations, content marketing, graphic design, web design, email marketing, SEO/SEM, event planning and custom publishing services. Founded in 1982, the company has 40 employees.
Norman’s background includes experience in public relations, marketing, event management, branding, advertising, graphic design, association management and publishing. He has worked with local, regional and national brands in planning and executing integrated communication plans. In addition, he has been directly involved with development and infrastructure planning through a number of economic development and InterCity Visit projects across the U.S. and Canada. Prior to joining S&A Cherokee, Norman spent seven years as the vice president of communications and governmental affairs with the Cary Chamber of Commerce. Norman is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and has held leadership roles within PRSA, the PRSA North Carolina Chapter and the Raleigh Public Relations Society.
Norman was accepted into the PRSA Counselors Academy in 2008 and joined the Executive Committee in 2013. He holds numerous board positions outside of the communications field, serving on the Wake Technical Community College Advisory Board and the advisory board for Band Together NC, a nonprofit that raises money annually through music for charities in North Carolina. He served as the chair of the 2011 Raleigh Chamber Business Expo and chaired the 2011–12 Emerging Leaders program and is currently on the Leadership Raleigh Alumni board of directors. He is also vice chair of economic development on the board of the Cary Chamber of Commerce. Norman was appointed to the local Wells Fargo Bank advisory board in 2014.
Norman earned his B.A. in communication with a concentration in public relations from North Carolina State University (NC State). He later completed the Organizational Management Institute at the College of Charleston, satisfying requirements to lead or manage all aspects of an association. Norman was awarded the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from NC State in 2008 and received the Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Leadership Award in 2009. Cary MacGregor Rotary named him Rotarian of the Year in 2009 and was named a 2011 Business Leader Mover & Shaker.
