Join members of PRSA’s Board of Ethics and Professional Standards for an examination and discussion of some of the potentially unethical social media behaviors that have been making headlines.

James E. Lukaszewski, ABC, Fellow IABC; APR, Fellow PRSA, BEPS Emeritus, is president of The Lukaszewski Group, a division of Risdall Marketing Group. Considered America’s Crisis Guru®, his name appeared in Corporate Legal Times as one of “28 Experts to Call When All Hell Breaks Loose,” and in PR Week as one of 22 “crunch-time counselors who should be on speed dial in a crisis.” Lukaszewski has served on the PRSA National Board of Ethics and Professional Standards (BEPS) for more than 20 years.

           

Nance Larsen, APR, Fellow PRSA, chair, PRSA Board of Ethics and Professional Standards

Nance Larsen, APR, Fellow PRSA, is a public relations professional with more than 20 years of strategic communication experience. She is currently serving in her second year as chair of the PRSA Board of Ethics and Professional Standards (BEPS), previously serving as BEPS secretary from 2009–2015.

Larsen’s career spans an extensive background in marketing, branding, crisis/issues management, media relations and public relations for major consumer brands. Focus industries include sports/sporting goods, tourism, natural resources and transportation.

Since 2001, Larsen has served as an appointed member of Special Olympics Worldwide’s global volunteer crisis action team. In this capacity, Larsen was awarded the National Volunteer Service Award. As part of the PRSA Alaska Chapter, Larsen has served as APR chair, PRSSA liaison, Chapter vice president, Chapter president and Assembly delegate.

        

Marlene Neill, Ph.D., APR, assistant professor, department of journalism, public relations and new media, Baylor University

Marlene Neill, Ph.D., APR, is an assistant professor at Baylor University. She teaches courses in public relations and advertising. She also serves as the Faculty Adviser for the Baylor PRSSA Chapter. Her research interests include public relations management and ethics. She has published research in the following journals: Journal of Mass Media Ethics, Public Relations Review, Journal of Communication Managementand Journal of Advertising Education. Neill is an Accredited member of the Central Texas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She served as the chair for the Southwest District of PRSA in 2011. At the national level, Neill served a three-year term on the Universal Accreditation Board, which administers the Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations; in 2012, she served on the Nominating Committee, which selects national board officers; and she was appointed to the Board of Ethics and Professionals Standards in January of 2013. Neill received her doctorate in advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, her Master of Arts in journalism from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and her Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Kansas.

Syzdek leads corporate communications for Las Vegas-based defense contractor JT3, and is a full-time lecturer for the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at UNLV.
