Public relations pros are no longer conduits for information. We are people who bring the news to folks who need our help. In order to succeed, you have to be someone people want to talk to.

How? By being able to see what is coming and becoming your own trend spotter. Spotting trends requires a combination of knowing your business and your customer, and keeping an eye on what is happening around you. With that big-picture/small-picture view, you will be better able to identify emerging trends that will affect your business.

This fast paced, moving, example-filled 60-minute webinar, hosted by trend expert Richard Laermer, will show you how finding out about obscure — yet important — industries outside of your workwill help you get the job done.

Laermer is an often-quoted expert in marketing and media. RLM PR, a 20-year-old independent communications firm, rose to prominence as the first to bring then unheard of dot-coms to the covers of magazines all over the world. RLM was online when online wasn’t cool, and then when it was. More recently, RLM has become the go-to consultant for doses of social media reality. As a public relations pro, Laermer is well-known as author of perennial handbook, “Full Frontal PR,” and 2002’s “TrendSpotting,” as well as four other titles, including the “Native’s Guide to New York” series from WW Norton. He is a featured writer on The Huffington Post, and his BadPitchBlog, co-managed with Kevin Dugan, previously received PRSA’s Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for Best Blog.
