On the Case with Brittney Bogues

Brittney Bogues founded Washington, D.C.-based All In Public Relations on her principles of relating traditional publicity to the evolving world of electronic and social media. She knows and understands the sport and politics of basketball and aims to offer a fresh and unique perspective while helping give female fans a voice.

A graduate of Wake Forest University, she also works for the International Worship Center, Entercom Communications and WKYS-FM’s morning show.

Bogues has a diverse background with a “go-hard-or-go-home” leadership style and an inherent affinity to athletics and sports culture. She says that her father, former NBA star Tyrone Curtis “Muggsy” Bogues, “taught me that reputation and image go a long way — so treat people fair, work hard giving it your all, and always believe.”

Childhood ambition:
I wanted to be a cardiac surgeon like my grandfather.

Current livelihood:
Public relations specialist and brand manager. Founder and CEO, All In Public Relations

What changed (i.e., how you became interested in public relations):
I interned with PR veteran Sheila Stewart who taught me the ropes of public relations. It was exciting and helped me recognize my passions and what I love to do best — talk to people and build long-lasting and positive relationships.

First public relations job:
PR associate with Fresh Productions and Marketing

What you know now that you wish you’d known then:
The importance of following up

Best piece of advice you’ve ever received:
Be ready for anything; always remain humble.

Greatest professional accomplishment:
Opening my own PR agency at the age of 24

If you weren’t in public relations, you would be: 
A professional photographer

Desired legacy:
For people to believe anything is possible by having faith in themselves

Make a “business case” for public relations:
Public relations is constantly growing and has proven to be as effective, if not more so, than advertising at a cost-effective rate. Providing PR services has a lasting impression that yields more results than just an ad placement.
